Hey there, I’m
CATHERINE LI.
Houston-based food photographer,
recipe developer, and blogger.
WELCOME TO CAT’S CUISINE.
I’m so glad you’re here!
Get to Know Me
My name is Catherine, but I usually go by Cat. (Ironically, I’m allergic to cats but love dogs.) I’m the girl behind this blog, self-taught cook/baker, adventurous foodie, and avid coffee drinker. I’m currently studying Health Sciences as an undergraduate student.
My purpose behind the content I create is to encourage others to eat intuitively while enjoying healthier options. Balanced nutrition is important to me, and I try to reflect that through my recipes by using real food ingredients: minimally processed, plant-focused, and nutrient-dense. You’ll also find many gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free, and oil-free options. However, Cat’s Cuisine does not identify with any specific diet label exclusively. Everybody is welcome here!
My Food Philosophy
I embrace an authentic approach to eating that attempts to reflect the cultural, historical, political, artistic, and ethical aspects of food. Understanding where food comes from, how it is sourced, and the role that it plays in shaping our identities allows us to make informed dietary choices. I create recipes from diverse cuisines, some of which are inspired by my travels or my Asian heritage, with a unique and modern twist.
For each of my recipes, however, I do my best to learn about the meaning behind the dish beforehand and to honor the tradition, in the hopes that people will be able to fully appreciate the gastronomy. Food is not only an experience to be savored but also a story worth sharing. I tell food stories on this blog that have been shaped by personal experiences, hence the blog name “Cat’s Cuisine.”
